Week 11     July 25 -31

DATE: July 25
ENTRY: We camped by a lake with Ashley, Richie and John - we didn't see the lake but apparently it was really beautiful :)

We headed back to Elephant Rocks in the morning with Ashley to try to get in a few more climbs and then went and got ice cream before driving on to Nashville.

Elephant Rocks was pretty cool but if I were coming back here I'd try to come back in the fall.

ENTRY: We're back in Nashville! Last stop before getting home. I'm excited to be heading home. I'm excited to have a bed and regular showers. And I'm excited to catch up with all my friends back home. It's been a long time.

Nashville is a nice place to be though. Meg's mom Carolyn always looks after us so well!

We went to the gym today to climb and belay a group of kids from a Boys and Girls club here in Nashville. Carolyn and one of her students at Vanderbilt organized a session for the kids at Climb Nashville and we thought we'd head along and help out. It was a great afternoon - it's really great to see kids who've never climbed before having such a great day and feeling so good about getting to the top of the walls. I wish they'd have the opportunity to do it more often. There were a couple of them who looked like they'd be really good climbers if they were given the chance.

ENTRY: We went to the gym with Ashley today. What a good day of climbing. Meg and I are both climbing really well right now. During the trip it often felt as though we weren't getting in enough climbing and we were worried that we weren't really getting any better but I think the experience of climbing outside so much has really improved our climbing. I'm definitely holding on to holds now that I couldn't have imagined holding onto before this trip. I guess I can thank the slopers at Horse Pens 40 for some of that.

I did a bunch of cool boulder problems and then sent a 10b and very nearly sent a 10d which I was pretty happy with. Meg was really impressive though sending a 10a, 10b, 10d, 11c and finishing a 12b. I think she'll send the 12b tomorrow when we come back.

Thanks for hanging out with us today Ashley - it was a very cool day!!

DATE: July 30
ENTRY:  We finally made it back to the gym today and climbed with the Katseff's (hi everyone!). Then we climbed with Ashley and Meghan sent that 12b she'd tried the other day (go Meg!!!).

Then it was back to the house to pack and eat pizza before taking Ashley home and saying our goodbyes. It was great hanging out with you Ash - we'll see you again soon!
